Кстати, в записи нового альбома "OPERATOR" также принимал активное участие гитарист Converge Курт Бэллоу.Также на записи отметились Йен Свенониус из Chain And The Gang, Джонатан Бэйтс из Big Black Delta и Mellowdrone, а также известный дизайнер Сонни Кей, в 90-х певший в пост-хардкор-группе The VSS.
MSTRKRFT, who is Jesse F. Keeler & Al-P, quietly began work on OPERATOR in late 2013 at their Toronto studio, optimizing their analog attack with an arsenal of synths, 808s, 909s and other equipment to track and perform what would eventually become OPERATOR. They left the computer set to “record” and banged out hundreds of hours of music to draw from.
“The ‘operator’ concept for us was essential in the creation of the music on this album, but I’m not sure what came first, the title or the idea,” says Jesse F. Keeler. “While browsing military related websites and blogs, mostly consisting of vets talking to each other like any civilian I suppose, I noticed repeated reference to something they called ‘operator culture.’ It seemed to be something that was sometimes laughed at, sometimes caused disdain, but was referenced constantly and seemed to be understood by everyone. I came to believe the operator concept is one of detachment.”

Несмотря на микроскопическую длительность пластинки разнообразия тут хватает. Есть и чирлидерские речевки («Homerun»), и летние томные гимны («Cookie Lips»), так что у альбома строго сезонное назначение. Шедевром диск не назовешь — уж больно ненавязчиво он звучит, однако для приятных воспоминаний о лете 2016 года он вполне годится. Осталось только совершить пару ярких поступков, с которым «Nice As Fuck» будет ассоциироваться.

More than simply a side project and definitely not just a collection of cast-offs, ‘Oddments Of The Gamble’ is a remarkably cohesive listen for something assembled over time and without restrictions.
Drowned in Sound -
For a record that is largely improvised, it is stunning that such a cohesive piece can be put together.
'Oddments of the Gamble' is a continuation of the unique, analogue concoctions that formed the first album - very much like a ‘part two’ in many ways. Although it inevitably draws on a similar formula to the previous LP - pensive loops and melodies, sweeping arpeggios, post-rock jams, and rolling jazz breaks - Oddments of the Gamble still stands alone as another statement from the trio despite originating from the same recording session.
